Books by Amber S. Hoffman
Food & Drink Destinations isn’t written from a desk. The same goes for our books. Every guide here was written from the ground — living in the region, eating where locals eat, and going back again and again until we knew a place’s food from the inside. Amber is the published author of culinary travel guides to some of Europe’s great food regions, written with the same first-hand standard that runs through everything we publish.
The Food Traveler’s Guide to the Costa Brava

Spain’s Costa Brava is one of the most exciting culinary regions in Europe — and one of the most misunderstood by visitors who never get past the beaches. Amber wrote this guide during the three years we lived in Girona, the Catalan city that serves as the region’s gateway, in partnership with the Costa Brava Tourism Board. It moves from traditional Catalan cooking to the modern gastronomy the region is now known for, with the goal of helping travelers understand what to eat, where to eat it, and why it matters.

The Food Traveler’s Guide to Emilia-Romagna

Emilia-Romagna is the source of some of Italy’s most famous foods — Parmigiano-Reggiano, mortadella, Parma ham, traditional balsamic — yet it’s still overlooked by travelers who stop at Rome, Florence, and Venice. This guide is the product of returning to the region again and again: Bologna, Modena, Parma, and the smaller towns and villages where these products actually originate. It walks through the food and the history behind it, so you can taste the region the way the people who make it do.

Wine Tourism in the Empordà
Amber also authored a guide to wine tourism in Spain’s Empordà wine region, produced with the Costa Brava Tourism Board and the DO Empordà Wine Route. It’s a natural companion to the Costa Brava guide — the same corner of Catalonia, told through its vineyards and the people making wine there. Both culinary guides are available in hardcover and ebook on Amazon.
