Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Review: Quiet Rooms, Elite Perks & Real Costs

Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok is a four-star hotel on a quiet residential lane off Ratchadamri Road, in the heart of Bangkok’s shopping district. It sits between two BTS Skytrain stations, Ratchadamri on the Silom Line and Chit Lom on the Sukhumvit Line, and is a 10-minute walk from CentralWorld. Rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott Banagkok typically run ฿3,500 to ฿7,000 ($110 to $220) a night, well below the five-star hotels around the Ratchaprasong intersection, and a free tuk-tuk shuttle takes guests to the Skytrain and the malls. Eric and I lived in Bangkok for two years, just a few BTS stops from here, so we know how hard it is to find a central hotel that’s this quiet at night at this price.

Eric and I stayed here for four nights in late September 2026, paying out of pocket (13,901 THB / $413 USD total, or about $103 per night) for a Deluxe King room to test how the hotel functions for food-focused travelers and Bonvoy elites. Between the complimentary tuk-tuk shuttle, reliable workspaces, and access to world-class dining, here is an honest look at what works, what falls short, and whether it deserves a spot on your Bangkok itinerary.

Who Is Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Best For?

One thing we’ve learned living in and traveling around Asia, Courtyard by Marriott properties here are not what you expect compared to the ones you find in the US. What do I mean?

For starters, they are nice. They are certainly newer and are actually a pleasure to stay in. Eric and I did a lot of traveling during our corporate days and often found ourselves at Courtyard properties around the US. Let’s just say none of them stood out like the ones we’ve stay in around Asia.

That said, this hotel fits travelers who want to be steps from Bangkok’s largest malls without paying premium five-star rates at the Grand Hyatt Erawan or Anantara next door. The area is also relatively quiet and clean in comparison to similar properties on the well-known Suhkumvit corridor.

First-Time Bangkok Visitors: Sitting between two different BTS Skytrain lines gives first-timers easy access to historic temples, river ferries, and Sukhumvit without complex transfers.

Avid Shoppers & Market Hunters: CentralWorld, Siam Paragon, Gaysorn Village, Platinum Fashion Mall, and Pratunam Market are all accessible on foot or via a quick shuttle ride.

Points Redeemers: As a mid-tier Bonvoy property in a high-demand downtown district, point redemptions here consistently yield strong cash-per-point value.

Who Should Look Elsewhere: If you crave sweeping river views, book along the Chao Phraya in Riverside. If your evening plans revolve around Sukhumvit nightlife, staying along Sukhumvit Soi 11 or Asok puts you much closer to the action.

Speaking of Sukhumvit, there are two Courtyard by Marriott hotels in central Bangkok, which leads to some confusion. This one is the Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok, and close to Central World. The other one is located a little east, down the BTS line, and is the Courtyard by Marriott Sukhumvit 20.

Where Is the Hotel and How Do You Get There?

The property sits tucked away on Soi Mahadlekluang 1, a quiet residential lane off Ratchadamri Road. This tucked-away position is its single best asset and its main quirk: you get absolute tranquility at night, paired with a 7 to 10-minute walk to main thoroughfares. It’s quiet, and clean, but it is a walk to either of the BTS stations.

Insider Tip: At the end of Soi Mahadlekluang 1 is a unassuming gate house “guarding” an entryway. This is a shortcut you can use during the day until 12am to access Lang Suan Rd. Lang Suan Rd leads you to Chit Lom BTS station which is only an 8 minute walk away. Walk out of the hotel and walk to the right to find it.

How the Tuk-Tuk Shuttle Works At Courtyard Bangkok

The Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok provides a complimentary tuk-tuk shuttle service. This came in super handy for us during our trip because we were attending a conference and it was raining. However, understanding the rules and schedule makes navigating much easier:

  • Advance Reservation Required: You must reserve your seat at the front desk at least 1 hour prior to your intended departure time. That said, a few times we were able to just hop in for a lift to Chitlom BTS station.
  • BTS Stations (Ratchadamri & Chit Lom): Continuous departures run from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM (except during scheduled mall runs). Pick-up service back to the hotel from these stations is provided on a first-come, first-served basis depending on availability. We didn’t test this out. I am not sure how you arrange it.
  • CentralWorld (Drop-Off Only): Runs six times daily at 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM, and 7:00 PM.
  • Siam Paragon (Drop-Off Only): Runs three times daily at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.
  • Important Note on Malls: There is no return pick-up service from Siam Paragon or CentralWorld back to the hotel, so plan to walk or grab a quick BTS ride back.

Driving & Parking: Unlike many central Bangkok properties that charge premium garage fees, Courtyard offers free covered self-parking and EV charging stations for guests.

Birthday surprise from Guest Services at the Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok

What Are the Rooms Like at Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok?

Refurbished around a modern “Touch of Nature” aesthetic, the 314 guest rooms feature warm earth tones, hardwood finishes, marble bathrooms, and functional workspaces. They are pretty similar in feel to other Courtyard hotels in Asia.

Well, pretty similar other than it was my birthday month! So, our room was decorated, filled with balloons, an elephant made of a pool towel, and a large piece of birthday cake awaited us!

  • Deluxe Rooms (30 – 33 sqm): Spacious compared to standard four-star Bangkok rooms (which often hover around 24 sqm). Features plush king or twin beds, floor-to-ceiling city views, a glass-walled shower enclosure, and quiet individual climate control.
  • Corner Larger Guest Rooms (35 sqm): Feature extra square footage, dual-aspect windows letting in natural sunlight, and extra lounge seating.
  • Family Rooms (45 sqm): Outfitted with two double beds, extended vanity space, and a full bathtub—making them an exceptional option for families traveling with kids.
  • Executive Suites (85 sqm): The property has only two full suites on top floors, featuring separate living rooms and dining space.

We ended up with an upgrade to corner room with views over looking Soi Mahadlekluang 1 and a large vacant lot. Not the best view but certainly quiet. Overall the room was perfectly fine with enough space for our luggage and “nicer” clothing for the conference we attended. This was a Bonvoy Platinum upgrade to the deluxe room we booked.

However, as is becoming the norm, we ran into the situation with only one set of full electrical outlets on one side of the bed. There was only a USB outlet on Eric’s side and we don’t travel with a USB cord so he had to charge his phone and watch on the desk. We’ve seen this at other hotels including Homm Chura Samui and the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park. It’s just strange.

Asian noodle soup cart in MoMo Cafe at the Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok.

What Is the Food and Drink Like at Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok?

Breakfast at MoMo Café

Served daily from 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM on the ground floor, breakfast is an extensive buffet spread. Walk-in pricing is ฿600 THB net ($18 USD) per person, though advance booking specials often run around ฿399 THB ($12 USD).

The buffet includes:

  • Live egg station cooking cage-free eggs, omelets, and eggs benedict to order.
  • Asian hot noodle station serving pork ball soups, congee (jok), and dim sum.
  • Hot Western grill with chicken sausage, crispy bacon, baked beans, and roasted potatoes.
  • Fresh pastry corner, salad bar, tropical fruits, and Illy espresso coffee service.

Elite Perk Note: Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador members receive complimentary full breakfast at MoMo Café for two guests as an elite welcome gift option. This is because there is no executive lounge at the hotel.

Overall the breakfast at MoMo Cafe was good. Aside from a couple fried eggs, Eric and I always go for the Thai breakfast option. In this case it was the Asian noodle soup cart.

Lunch, Dinner, and Room Service

MoMo Café (11:00 AM – midnight): Transitions into an all-day dining restaurant serving Thai classics alongside Western comfort food. Portions are surprisingly generous and built for family sharing. Standouts include the Khao Soi Gai (Northern curry chicken noodles, ฿320 THB++) and the Triple-Cooked BBQ Pork (฿650 THB++). We stopped in for our free welcome cocktail one night, as a platinum benefit.

24-Hour Room Service: Full menu service runs around the clock, which is immensely helpful when landing late on an international flight into BKK.

Should You Eat at the Hotel?

We don’t generally book a hotel breakfast because we travel for food. We want to save the belly space. That said, because we were attending a conference one of the days, and we traveled a distance to our first meal a couple of others, we ate a bit each morning at Momo Cafe.

But, the neighborhood is great for food! Afterall, it’s Bangkok and aside from amazing Thai street food loaded with delicious Thai snacks, there’s outstanding international food to enjoy. The hotel is also within walking distance of some of the largest malls, with some of the best food halls.

One international option we found and couldn’t get enough of is Tonchin Ramen x Kaburaya – Mercury Ville. We don’t have great Japanese food on Koh Samui so we had to stop here. A 10 minute walk up Lang Suan Rd from the Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok, Tonchin Ramen x Kaburaya – Mercury Ville offer big steaming bowls of ramen and one amazing Happy Hour.

happy hour near the courtyard by marriott bangkok

Tonchin Ramen x Kaburaya – Mercury Ville does a “beat the clock” style Happy Hour on draft beer or whiskey highball cocktails. Meaning, you have one hour to drink as many draft beers or whiskey highball cocktails as you please. *Note we do not condone or encourage over drinking.

Admittedly, we went here twice because in addition to not having great Japanese on Ko Samui, we don’t have Happy Hour offers like this one so “when in Rome”.

That said, having a fresh, air-conditioned buffet right downstairs before heading out into Bangkok heat is a huge convenience. However, because you are within a 10-minute walk of world-class night markets, street stalls, and gourmet food halls at CentralWorld, eating dinner outside the hotel lets you experience the best culinary options Bangkok has to offer.

What Facilities and Services Does It Have?

  • Outdoor Swimming Pool: Located on the 4th floor, we didn’t get a chance to use it because it rained most of our stay. There is a cute little pool bar though, that also does a daily happy hour.
  • Fitness Center: Open 24/7 with keycard access, featuring Life Fitness treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, and free weights up to 25 kg.
  • Tarnvana Spa: Located inside the hotel, offering traditional Thai massages (฿1,200 THB / $35 USD for 120 minutes), aromatic oil treatments, and hot herbal compress therapies.
  • Sustainability Focus: Courtyard Bangkok holds ASEAN Green Hotel certification.

What Is the Neighborhood Around the Hotel Like?

Soi Mahadlekluang 1 is a quiet residential side street home to high-end condominiums, executive apartments, and diplomatic residences. It is completely free from street-level nightlife noise. This makes it the perfect area for Eric and I are now in our 50s and just don’t want the noise or hassle. It’s also a great option for first-time visitors to Bangkok who might not want to be surrounded by the craziness!

This does mean you are not walking out the door of the hotel and into food options, but everything you could possibly want to eat in Bangkok is a 5-15 minute walk away.

Where to Eat Near Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok

We used to live in Bangkok just a couple of BTS stops away from the Courtyard, so we know firsthand how phenomenal the food scene is right around this pocket of the city. While the hotel’s quiet residential lane gives you peaceful nights, you are mere minutes on foot—or a quick Skytrain hop—from some of Bangkok’s best dining, ranging from air-conditioned gourmet megahalls to riverside dives.

Here is where we actually ate during our stay, showing just how versatile and accessible the dining is from the hotel:

  • ThongSmith Siamese Boat Noodles (CentralWorld, 3rd Floor): A 10-minute walk (or a quick hop on the hotel’s free tuk-tuk drop-off) brings you to CentralWorld. ThongSmith takes humble street-corner boat noodles and elevates them with rich, deeply complex herbal broths and premium cuts like sliced Australian Wagyu beef, tender braised pork, and savory meatballs. You customize your exact bowl down to the broth spice level and noodle cut. Do not skip an order of crispy pork cracklings for dipping and their chilled coconut milk longan pudding to round it out.
  • Pad Kra Pao Banh Mi at Hug Thai (CentralWorld, Ground Floor): CentralWorld’s Hug Thai food zone is a lifesaver for fast, vibrant regional street flavors in cool AC. We grabbed a spicy beef Pad Kra Pao banh mi here—a brilliant culinary mashup packing fiery Thai holy basil beef and crisp pickled vegetables into a crackly toasted baguette. It makes for an unbeatable grab-and-go lunch when you’re between shopping stops or heading back to the hotel.
  • Michelin-Recognized Dining at Gourmet Eats (Siam Paragon, Ground Floor): One stop on the BTS (or an easy walk via the elevated SkyWalk) brings you to the basement food empire at Siam Paragon. Instead of sitting down at a single venue, we hit two legendary Michelin-recognized street stalls operating under one roof: Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice for tender poached chicken over fragrant rendered rice with ginger-chili sauce, and Pork Satay Nai Song for tender charcoal-grilled skewers paired with rich peanut sauce and pickled ajad. It gives you authentic street cart flavors with total seating ease. We also ate the famous crab fried rice at Here Hai.
  • Kub Kao Kub Pla (Siam Paragon): Just an 15-minute walk from the Courtyard along the SkyWalk, this was our refuge during a rainy Saturday lunch. Tucked into the basement of the Siam Paragon Mall, it’s one of our favorite malls in Bangkok for food. We ate delicious fried prawns in salted egg and a crispy rice salad.
  • Jack’s Bar (Chao Phraya Riverside): When you want cold beers with river breezes, take the BTS Silom Line directly from BTS Ratchadamri straight down to Saphan Taksin (just 4 stops). From the pier, walk 5 minutes down the alleyway next to the Shangri-La to find Jack’s Bar. Perched on wooden stilts directly over the water, this unpretentious wooden shack serves cold Singhas, spicy fried chicken wings, and raw riverfront views as longtail boats roar past at sunset. This has been our favorite local dive bar in Bangkok for well over a decade.
  • Local Seafood Near Chong Nonsi (Our Old Bangkok Neighborhood): Because the hotel sits right on the Silom BTS line, it takes less than 10 minutes to ride down to BTS Chong Nonsi. We headed back to our former neighborhood along the side sois near Sathorn to feast on street-side Thai seafood: wok-tossed morning glory (pad pak boong), spicy grilled prawns, and tart green seafood dipping sauce (nam chim seafood) served at plastic tables alongside neighborhood regulars.

What We Liked and What We Didn’t

What We Liked:

  • Free Tuk-Tuk Shuttle Service: The shuttle runs reliably and saves significant walking in afternoon heat. As well as when you are there for a conference or it’s raining. Just make sure you get a copy of the schedule.
  • Quiet Street Location: Soi Mahadlekluang 1 offers peaceful nights free from traffic horns or street noise. And after a few night in Bangkok you are going to want this. Trust us, we used to live there.
  • Dual Skytrain Station Access: Being sandwiched between the Silom and Sukhumvit BTS lines makes citywide transit effortless. This is key if you want to explore the city. You can get nearly everywhere.

What We Didn’t:

  • Electrical Outlets: Only one side of the bed has a full set of electrical outlets requiring one of us to charge on the desk across the room.
  • 1 Drink Voucher: The property doesn’t have a lounge for Bonvoy members. To offset this, we were given one drink voucher (each) for our entire four night stay.

Is Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Worth It?

As this Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok review shows, the hotel offers exceptional value for travelers seeking a polished, comfortable, and well-located base in Bangkok’s main shopping district. As I said earlier, Courtyard hotels in Asia are so different (better?) than what you find in the US. This property certainly lives up to that.

By trading flashy rooftop bars or massive resort pools for quiet residential streets, comfortable rooms, and a free tuk-tuk shuttle, the property delivers exactly what mid-range travelers and Bonvoy members need. We would happily stay here again on future Bangkok trips.
