The resort sits tucked away down a quiet road about an 8 to 10-minute walk off the main coastal ring road. Because the main road in this specific area features mostly basic conveniences (like a Tops Daily and Mini Big C) rather than walking attractions, taking a taxi or Grab directly to the resort entrance is the most convenient option. Parking for self-driving cars on-site is fairly limited.

We were initially unsure whether the 3,000 THB credit for two adults had to be reached before or after local taxes, but the resort applied our final bill—including the 10% service charge and 7% VAT—directly against the credit on a seamless trust system.

Throughout our day, our ordering was a bit scattered: we ordered some items via the lounger QR app, placed other rounds directly with passing servers, and finished our final drinks at the covered bar after an afternoon rain shower drove us off the pool deck. When the final bill arrived, the team credited the 3,000 THB line-by-line without missing a beat.

Between sharing a burger, ordering two Leo beers, two cocktails, and timing our final rounds with the 2-for-1 Happy Hour, our final total came to exactly 3,003 THB—hitting the minimum spend almost to the single Baht without paying unnecessary extra.

• Crowd & Age Vibe: Because SAii operates as an adult-only luxury resort (with an age policy catering to guests 12 and older, though most visitors present during our stay were young adults and older couples), there are no small children running around. The atmosphere feels exclusive, intimate, and never crowded.

What It’s Like At The SunRay Pool?

From what we experienced, the resort actually features four separate pools cascading down toward the ocean rather than just one large basin. One serves as a scenic ocean-facing infinity pool, while the other three offer varying depths—three are relatively shallow for relaxed wading, while the main swimming pool reaches roughly 5 feet deep. The lowest level towards the beach includes built-in swim-up bar stools so you can sip a cold beer directly in the water.

Because the pool deck is surrounded by mature jungle trees and overhangs, you are genuinely immersed in nature. For me, it felt a little too nature-filled at times—there were quite a few unusual bugs around the loungers, and tropical pods and debris occasionally dropped from the canopy overhead. If you love a lush botanical garden vibe you will feel right at home, but if you’re sensitive to insects, keep your repellent handy.

Beach & Swimming Conditions at Hanuman Bay

The loungers lead right down a short set of steps onto the beach. The physical setting is stunning—a secluded 300-meter bay framed by lush greenery to the east and west, shared with neighboring Sea Dance Resort.

However, keep these beach details in mind before stepping off the pool deck:

• Coarse Sand: Unlike the soft, powdery sand found on Ban Tai Beach or Maenam Beach, the sand here is significantly coarser underfoot.
• Rocky Water Entry: The bay features substantial natural rock formations both to the left and right in the water. Watching guests enter the sea, it can be tricky to navigate the underlying rocks, making the ocean less ideal for swimming compared to the resort’s pristine pools.

Can You Swim in the Ocean at SunRay Beach?

While the 300-meter bay offers beautiful tropical views shared with neighboring Sea Dance Resort, the coarse sand and shallow natural rock formations make the resort’s fresh cascading pools far better for swimming.

We chose not to go in the water, although others did. We have amazing beaches in Maenam and Bantai Beaches, close to where we live, so I didn’t feel the need to climb over the rocks to swim. Other guests, though, managed to make it over the rocks to swim and snorkle.
